Statements of PrincipleThis page is the official record of Statements of Principle and who adheres to which. =SoP 1= "We play games because they are fun. When a game ceases to be fun, it has worn out its intended purpose. Since Nomicron is a game that the players create together by playing it, players should only take game actions that will make the game more fun, and refrain from taking actions that would make the game less fun." Adherents: Jedisquid, Jef, Truthflux =SoP 2= "Sometimes it is worth slogging through a dull patch to reach the fun fields beyond." Adherents: Truthflux =SoP 3= "Style reports should never be allowed to go out of fashion" Adherents: Truthflux, JediSquid =SoP 4= "Chaos is fun, unless there's a lot of it, in which case it's boring, and thus not chaos, and therefore utter chaos is utter non-chaos, therefore chaos doesn't exist, which is really quite chaotic." Adherents: ehird, Looney =SoP 5= The driving force of a round of Nomic is not the creation of rules via the proposal system, but the abuse of those rules via the RFJ system. We all agree that Rounds 4 and 5 were boring. However, I claim that the reason why those rounds sucked is not because the book system was too complicated, but because it was so well designed that it left little room for abuse. That is why I kept as close to the Suber ruleset as possible when writing the initial rules for Round 6; because I wished to avoid writing another idealized ruleset, and will strongly oppose any efforts to establish such in the future. Adherents: Looney, Physics =SoP 6= "This statement is false." Adherents: Physics =SoP 7= "Rules should have more flavor text. In fact, there should be a field for flavor text. That would rock." Adherents: Physics, Looney =SoP 9= "I think it would be neat if we made powers for all the Rings before they are created." Adherents: JediSquid, Jef =SoP 10= Endorsement of SoPs is much more interesting if the act of endorsement is publicly announced and commented on, as I have done in all of my SoP endorsement posts. Therefore, I do not approve of the practice of endorsing SoPs by silently appending one's name to the wiki entry. If the SoPs were hosted on the Google Group rather than on the wiki, a good solution would be for players to use the feature that posts an announcement of changes with to the forum, as that system allows for the author to comment on the changes that were made. Adherents: Looney, Jef, metaloop =SoP 11 - Blue Party= We need some rules to imprison players at Gaol. Adherents: metaloop, JediSquid, Truthflux =SoP 12 - Blue Party= Now that we have the hub Free Parking and because of the opposition to intruding on mammoths by the environmentalists of the Green Party we need to improve the powers of the Ring of Songs. One idea, which I am sure the Green Party would agree to is to give the wielder of the Ring of Songs to lure the mammoths to migrate to some other hub, a la pied pier. This would of course involve creating a new rule that creates mammoths and describes their behaviour (that is currently in the text of the Greener Pastures hub rule) and modification of Greener Pastures. Adherents: metaloop, Truthflux =SoP 13 - Blue Party= SoPs 11 and 12 form the current agenda of the Blue party. Players adhering to this SoP and at least half (rounded above) the SoPs on the agenda belong to the Blue Party. These players should try to pass laws to implement the SoPs on the party agenda. Adherents: metaloop, Truthflux
