Subject: Brent Councils premises policy on Community Organisations
Brent Council is currently using a most disgusting clause within it's
leases to Community Organisations

After many years where Community Organisations were enjoying the use
and services of their Community buildings, serving their Communities.

Brent has used a "you should have been paying us Insurance on your
building" ruse to oust Community Organisations from their Premises.

This was upheld in Court last week, when at Willesden County Court,
The Afro Caribbean People's Organisation was ordered to pay Brent
Council £8500 in back insurance in two months or be evicted from their
premises for breach of duty under their lease.

After being 18 years in their premises and never being asked for this
money previously.

This is yet another attack by Brent Council on a Black Organisation,
and you can dress it up in any shade you like it is an attack.

If you go on to Brava website, as I have done and telephoned the
Community Organisations listed there, many of them have gone, and it
will not be a surprise to know the majority of them are Ethinic
Minority ( black ) Organisations, it is the stealth culling of these
Organisations by not renewing funding and leases.

What are we going to do to prevent them doing what they are doing with
abandon, slashing a swathe a mile wide into our Communities and never
caring for the loss of service provision.

Our Communities deserve better.

An orderly protest is being arranged at BRENT TOWN HALL FORTY LANE
WEMBLEY on Monday  30TH of JUNE @ 6.30 for the 7.15 meeting.

As each Councilor will have to walk past us and see the level of
support.

All are welcome to express their support and disgust at these policies.
