Subject: Caller ID for Business - Need an advanced solution

Is anyone on this newsgroup a caller-ID wizard?

I have a small business where I would like to display the caller ID
for incoming numbers (Name + Number) in a large format display in
front of my employees who will answer the phones and take orders from
incoming calls.

The employees will share a computer.   The main thing is I need some
software that will determine the geographical area (by area code and
exchange prefix) and display this before my employees answer the
phone.

Is there a stand alone box or display that will do this?  I've done
web searches for consumer units, but I haven't found one that quite
duplicates the lookup function.

If so, is there anything available in a larger format that doesn't
necessarily use a computer monitor?

I have multiple lines (4) and would like something that will work on
all four lines with 4 independent displays, but if necessary, I'll buy
four identical units.

Anyone know?   All ideas and suggestions appreciated...

I have to go to work to figure out what it is we have - Maybe a talkswitch
system?  But it allows this and there are a few versions that are out there.
The newer ones integrate and are programmed via PC's USB port.  If you are
saavy and can put a serial port onto a newer PC (they don't come standard
most times now) you can get an older one that is less expensive but works
just fine.

However, your e-mail is invalid so I might not remember to respond here with
the details tonight.  Feel free to reply with a reminder or reply directly
to me.

Is this is for doing a personal greeting sort of thing when answering
the phone as in the employee reads the display and then answers with
"good morning Fred, thanks for calling Acme corp..."?

A few vendors we deal with tried that and quietly retired the system
because many people are offended (even though they know about caller ID)
with the "big brother" aspect.

If this place doesn't have it send them an email with
your specific requirements. If anyone knows they will.

You can probably find lots of info on this subject simply by doing a
google search. Try also to contact your local telephone service
providers to see what they recommend.
