Subject: Small Business Server - NEW SERVER
Hi IT-Fans,
I have installed a Small Business Server 2003 which host my domain - a windows 2000 Server is a Member Server.
Now i buy a new Server - i will install also the Small Business Server 2003 on it (cause of the license)...
My Q - is there a way to migrate all the information to the new Small Business Server??? or how should i do it????
Thank you very much, bye ´from austria - david

You may have TWO SBS server on the same domain, for a while (7 days I think), so they can replicate. After that you must demote the old one. You'll have to move mailboxes with the Exchange admin and files with any suitable way (perhaps Robocopy).

Use Jeff Middleton's Swing Migration. Google it. It's ideal for a box-to-box migration. Jim

If your goal is to migrate your SBS network to a new physical server, then Swing Migration is definitely the answer. http://www.sbsmigration.com . If, however, you think you can add a new server to your existing SBS network, and install SBS on it, then no, you can't do that. There can only be one SBS server on the network, except for the time it takes to migrate from one to another. -- Charlie. http://msmvps.com/blogs/russel

Even though the others suggested SBSMigration Which is some documentation and some tools This IMO should not be done by someone who is in experienced. I'm not trying to offend you, I just don't want you over your head. It's not for the beginner, and much more involved that installing the server. If you do decide to go on your own make sure you have a couple of complete FULL backups of the box Before you start Russ -- Russell Grover - SBITS.Biz [SBS-MVP] Microsoft Gold Certified Partner Microsoft Certified Small Business Specialist World Wide 24hr SBS Remote Support - http://www.SBITS.Biz 30% OFF Microsoft Online Services - http://www.microsoft-online-services.com/
