I have SBS2003 set up for PPTP VPN via wizard. I have PPTP port 1723 and GRE protocol 47 opened thru firewall and directed to SBS address. I can VPN from outside thru my vista PC and I can ping inside machines. However after 40 to 50 seconds, the connection disconnects. This happens every time.
What should I check to resolve the issue? I have set up MTU to be 1400 on firewall of SBS end.

Thanks for your prompt support. I apologize to have misquoted. It is SBS2008 and not SBS2003. I downloaded BPA and ran on this and there were no errors. I still ran Fix my network just in case, but there was no issue.
I found the issue though and looks like it is resolved now.
I have a Dlink DIR-655 802.11n wireless router at home. So I thought to rule out wireless issues. I connected my laptop direct to the wired port and the my PPTP connection was stable.
Then I connected to wireless again and problem came back. That confirmed the issue is with wireless. I made sure I had latest drivers from Intel for my wireless built in NIC and I still had issues. I also have all updates on my Vista premium laptop.
I was reviewing all advanced wireless configuration settings in the router and I came across a setting for Short GI ( Guard Interval). I unchecked it and my PPTP over wireless is stable now.
RWW was intact. Looks like PPTP VPN is very sensitive to minor disconnects and hence a temporary wireless signal strength or interference will knock the VPN down but https sessions stay put.
I did not look into logs on the laptop side. The server side had nothing partcular, just logoff / logonn etc.
