  I HAVE FIXED IT thank you for my bother. &lt;br&gt; It was something not suggested Somehow it was marked as do not accept in &lt;br&gt; the cookies file, no idea of how that got changed. &lt;br&gt; Thanks &lt;br&gt; SG

  I am using XP and IE8 with no problems for months. Now suddenly when I try &lt;br&gt; to log on Google.groups I get the following message. &lt;br&gt; (your browser&#39;s cookie functionality is turned off.) They then suggest &lt;br&gt; clearing cookies. &lt;br&gt; I rechecked my cookie settings which are still set to accept first party, &lt;br&gt; prompt for third party, always allow session cookies. cleared and reset.

  Huh? Adobe Reader or Foxit Reader (far less resources than Adobe) should &lt;br&gt; allow opening a PDF in most browsers (Firefox3 and IE6+ for sure). For &lt;br&gt; Windows 2000 and up for sure.

  The fact that this thread dates from 20 August makes it very hard for both &lt;br&gt; of us, I&#39;m sure, to keep track of things. &lt;br&gt; That being said, you keep changing your description of the problem. First &lt;br&gt; you said you were seeing &amp;quot;Red X&#39;s&amp;quot; when you opened a PDF file (in a &lt;br&gt; browser). Now you&#39;re saying that the PDF file won&#39;t open (in a browser).

  Hello PA Bear, &lt;br&gt; I&#39;m running Foxit Reader 3.0 version 1817 on both the Win 2k Pro and Win &lt;br&gt; 98SE machines. The Win 98SE works OK on UK Gov site but the Win 2kPro machine &lt;br&gt; won&#39;t open it unless I download the file first as you suggested. &lt;br&gt; I am puzzled - why does the OS make this difference? &lt;br&gt; Both machines are running IE6

  What proof do you have that there should be more text available on the right? &lt;br&gt; E.g. does View Source give you more than there is displayed? &lt;br&gt; If this is really IE6 you could install the IE Developer Toolbar &lt;br&gt; and play with settings such as Disable All CSS to try to see &lt;br&gt; hidden source in other ways or with different formatting.
