My system profile:
- OS: Windows 2000 Advanced Server
- ADS: Yes
- DNS: Yes
- IIS: Yes
- MS/SQL2000: Yes
I ran Service Pack# 4 today and it died right around the "Registry Update
step". It gave a Red X
dialog saying "A required DLL not found".
1. I clicked "OK". Another Red X dialog was displayed saying: "Cannot remove
ISM.DLL script file".
2. I reboot the server and the system applet reported that "Service Pack 4"
is in the system.
3. My system is booting normally after this. I have not checked any services
yet.
4. I then downed all the services (which I normally never do while applying
service packs) and reapplied service pack 4 and I got the same result.
This is the 1st Windows service pack that failed on me (I have successes
with all NT 4.0 svcps, Windows 2000 Sp1-3, Win XP sp1-1a)
Below is the last part of the "svcpack.log":
