Has anyone applied SP1 to their SQL2005 server? I did this and Integration services will no longer start. I just get an error about not starting in a timely manner. I deinstalled Integration services and then reinstalled them. The service started but as soon as I applied SP1 again it broke again. I read everything I can find, I did not have any customizations to the DCOM security which SP1 changes.
I prefer not to have to deinstall SQL and reinstall it. Anyone?
I've installed it on two systems, just tested one of them by stopping and re-starting Integration services - no problems. Unfortunately, that's all I can offer....

I've now installed it on 4 systems, with no problems. I have one left to go, which is our report server, but I've become a bit nervous about doing it after reading of this issue. All of the others were development systems, except one brand new one which will be a production machine. Each of them has Integration Services installed, and the service is running after the sp1 install....

I posted about the same problem on the same day as you did, you could have looked a few posts back. So yes, this looks like a very common issue with SP1.

Its seems that Integrations Sevices needs to go out the the internet. Our server was configured to not allow internet access. When we allowed access the service stared up just fine. This also sped up Management Studio startup which was also goes out the internet before connecting.

What port is SSIS trying to use? Had you just blocked the server from accessing the Internet by not having a physical connection or by blocking certain ports?
Thanks

Our systems are inside a firewall and the internet can only be accessed via proxy. If this is a requirement of SSIS then Micro$oft needs to document it and provide corporations with a way to work around it.

Having same issue with Database services. Was anyone that successfully installed it using a name instance of SQL Server 2005? We are using a named instance and wonder if that is causing this problem since no one has a difinitive answer yet.

I believe this timeout may occur because CryptoAPI validates the assembly signature, and by default tries to access Certificate Revocation List on the Internet. If you want to disable this, this option (whether to contact CRL) is configurable in IE options: advanced -> security.
This is per-user option, should be configured for account used to run service.
If the service runs as Network Service account, you can't launch IE under this user, you need to clone registry value 'State' from HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WinTrust\Tru st Providers\Software Publishing to HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-20\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WinTrust\T rust Providers\Software Publishing

I encounter the same error on IA64 machine. The SSIS runs as Network Service account, so I try the second one. However, I found these 2 registries with the same value. Then I use the administrator account to run the service but it still doesn't work. Any suggestions? Thanks a lot.

On 64-bit machine there are two independent copies of some registry keys. Make sure you use 64-bit RegEdit and 64-bit Internet Explorer to make these changes.
