Flash Player End User Options

The three options for the end user seem clear: Embed, Progressive Download,
Stream.
But, my question is:
When a client previews a video from our website, at the same video link is it
possible to create an option to SAVE the video onto a clients computer HI or
LOW res, then they can have a copy of the video to upload onto their own

Hi Ned, I redid the animation in Flash as much as possible and used gif instead
when necessary. I got it down to 176 kb and now it's running smooth. Thanks!

Via that little menu icon in the library there is an option to "Select Unused
Items"... though it's probably chancy, especially if you have library items
that are dynamically loaded to the stage. At least with that you can have a
better shot at identifying the ones that are definitely used and then isolate

Unable to download new flash

When i am on the "download new version of flash" page i click on the yellow
button saying i agree and to start the download. The only problem is everytime
i click the download button it just refreshes the page and a download never
starts. What should i do?

How can I determine which of the Fla library objects are NOT being used in the
Swf? I have several bloated Flas with mostly unused library items.
I read the help documentation and it says simply look in the 'Use count'
column to determine what items are used and what are not. That makes Sense!

Hi Hanna,
The Save and Compact is an option right under the Save option. It removes any
memory of changes made and objects that no longer exist. But if everything in
that piece is a jpeg, that's not likely to change it much.
Based on the visual quality of the jpegs, I'd say they are probably high KB

selection in script-window is lagging

the blue selection lags behind the mouse. I think that is very annoying. When I

Hi Ned, thanks for your response. It is not a flash drawn movie. All pieces are
imported as .jpgs. How do I do Save and Compact? I tried but nothing happens
and it doesn't generate a new file or anything.

I didn't notice any pause or jerkiness in what you linked. If the swf is 600
KB, you may be well off using a preloader. You may want to try Save and
Compact if you haven't yet to see if that brings the file size down.

doesn't run smooth when uploaded to the site. The flash movie is only 600 kb.

Try Googling "AS3 slideshow tutorial" and you'll likely find a few. Check thru them to see which will help teach you the features you want to include.

Flash crashes

if I open a template,
a new file or sample file the opening window stays for 5 secs or so get the
rainbow twirl , then crashes .
any clues ? please.
Loaded CS4 yesterday everything else works far as I can see.
Mac OSX 10.5.5
