Did anyone get out today? Christmas shopping seemed to have a
miraculous effect on the forecasted weather.

If things are looking remotely doable tomorrow I'll be out for a walk

Ever struggled with the NATS web site? Or maybe you just never bothered looking up NOTAMs for your area, because it was all too difficult? How do you work out whether that latitude and longitude is anywhere near you? Hopefully, this web site is the solution to your problem.

I had to escape from a cloud this year. Twice.
First time.
After a low save I was determined to take climb to base. I went too high
though, climbing around 2000m.. and was under a wide cloud. I should have
transitted to the downwind side earlier, so as I tried to go to my
destination I crossed under the strongest area of lift.. doh.

Hi Alastair,

I haven't done BBE (big big ears) but I do want to try it sometime.
It's got some nice advantages over spiral as you note but it's not without
risks.
It's probably worth having in the toolbox for brown trouser situations.

In my limited experience of t'interwebs, anything kicking off with 'Dear Friend' should go immediately to the bin without opening. Sounds guaranteed to have a bollocky link or a trojan in waiting. Best avoided. I wouldn't have checked the site myself and doubt much of what they sell (if anything) is the genuine article.

Given that this is the second time my email has been hacked by smammers (see earlier rant) I think its now pretty clear the intro 'One of my friends..' is obsolete, as I no longer have any. I'd be wary. Anyone selling a state of the art Mac for under £500 just
sounds too good to be true. Brings to mind the saying that, 'if it sounds
too good to be true, it probably is'.
