Good news: our database is back up and running so you should no longer
experience problems logging in.
We've contacted our hosting company and apparently, the server where
our database was hosted was offline for emergency maintenance. Panic
over! Phew!

Intermittent problems with our database

Just a quick message to let you know that some users have experienced
problems logging in today. It seems there is a problems with the
database and we are waiting to hear from our hosting company.
However, note that such problem is rare and never lasts more than a
couple of hours. Hopefully, the disruption will only be minimal.

Hurray!!!! The Linguascope sites are all up and running again.
It didn't look too hopeful this morning when I came in the office as:
(1) my computer refused to start up
(2) there was nothing in the mail from our hosting company about our
new password - grrr!

We have tried very hard all day to contact our hosting company to get
them to restore our database as quickly as possible, but their phone
line was engaged all day. I expect all their customers were in the
same situation and everyone was trying to contact them at the same

Many of you have been contacting us this morning to let us know they
could not log on to any of the Linguascope sites today.
Unfortunately, the problem is outside our control. Our hosting company
has had a security breach and in order to prevent unauthorised access
to their database, they have decided to change all access passwords.
