Thanks for the appreciation here as well as on my knol.
My main areas of writing are management and industrial engineering. My
popular knols are in the area of marketing management. I also wrote
some knols to promote knol platform. I made a directory of knols. Each
of these initiatives have some success not stupendous success. But as
I could write number of knols during the last one year, the total adds
up now. I am now finding that there are large number of knol authors
who posted more than 100 knols. I am collecting a list of those knol
authors and I hope we can form a more active knol author community by
bringing them into a discussion group either on knol itself or outside
knol like this group. My preference will be knol itself.
Today an idea came to me take up an initiative that would involve
around 1000 new authors (students) joining the knol platform. I
already initiated the initial step of informing my colleagues and
students about it. I think the initiative can contribute 2 to 3
million page views to knol platform next year. Hope the project takes
shape. Aftersome time I shall write my idea publicly, so that if my
group cannot do it any group can take it up and do it. I want knol to
succeed and if we can contribute in someway for ensuring it, we all
will be happy.

Narayana Rao: Knol can only succeed if authors will contribute
material of quality. Information that is so compiled that people will
gladly refer to it for information or research. Meritocracy will win
over mediocrity.

Knol as a commercial venture will succeed only if there are adequate
number of page views that make it a profitable venture. What is the
cost of storage for an article? Any body has an idea? What the cost of
delivering an article to the visitor from storage? Any body has an
idea? I also do not have. But this sort of data are required to make
certain judgments on the future of knol.
