We now have a HomeCamp SIM setup on ReactionGrid, which is on
OpenSim. We are aiming to run a virtual world event alongside the
main Home Camp.
ReactionGrid is already doing some great work with modelling using
Pachube inputs from real life objects and we hope to have some demo
environments setup for the event. As always, watch this space for
more details, or drop by HomeCamp on the SIM. If you are interested
in getting involved on the HomeCamp SIM, then let us know.
You'll need to register with reactionGrid, then log in using either
the Second Life client or Hippo OpenSim Viewer.
We are having a planning session on the HomeCamp sim on thursday 5th
March at 9pm GMT. You are most welcome to join if you want to get
involved or simply have a nose around the sim :)

I have updated the wiki with some ideas for the sim. I was active in
Second Life for a couple of years, then found the real world more
interesting (a Manhattan construction project, breaking ground this
year, requiring a sensor system and Pachube!) but I am intrigued by
the OpenSim developments and will help with the sim-building for
Virtual HomeCamp.
yellowpark and I had a manic build session last night in homecamp sim.
Check out the Pachube Orb in Cliff House - now receiving and sending
data. More info to come.

(first has invalid security certificate, must accept to see it)
It appears that Chris will have to enable a function in OpenSim, and
then the display relies on a service that converts a page into an
image. So it may not be useful for realtime web feed display in the
sim.

Hello all, I've been following your conversations on Twitter and am
very interested in what you're doing. Not just because we've recently
built our own sim on ReactionGrid but because @TomRaftery and
@monkchips have both expressed an interest in getting Paul McMahon of
Episensor (innovative Zigbee developers) to talk at the real Homecamp.
Paul is a contact of mine (through OpenCoffee Limerick) and I'm sure I
can convince him to join us in Virtual Homecamp so perhaps he can
deliver a virtual talk there, or just chat with other attendees.
Thanks for thinking of us. That all sounds fantastic. Hoping for
@TomRaftery to take an office on the HomeCamp sim and if anyone is
interested in taking a look around, they are more than welcome or I
would be pleased to show people around. We are also welcoming people
to take an office or house on the sim so they can build a Virtual
World presence in HomeCamp. People are already playing with Pachube
and arduino setups proving real world and virtual world interaction.
We should also be having a meeting on the sim soon, so we can plan for
the growth of the sims (we have 4), look at a regular meeting and
training agenda and to get feedback on the syle of build on the sim.

James - good to hear from you. I have been doing some of the Pachube
tinkering in the Homecamp sim, and I am also working with Zigbee/Xbee.
Looking forward to a conversation.

Here's a link to the transcript of today's meeting in Homecamp sim -
it picks up in progress. Chris Hart returns later to the point she is
making at the beginning.
