It seems that Jenel Apartments and Olympic have parted company. People
who have booked a holiday with Olympic at Jenel are receiving letters
from Olympic saying that the contract with Jenel apartments has been
cancelled. Olympic appear to be offering alternative accommodation at
Alia.
I'm hearing that the owners of Jenel will be offering their apartments
direct. If so, as soon as I get contact details I'll put a message on
this group and add the contact information on the haraki.co.uk
website.
I heard in Haraki last week that Allbury Travel Group were picking up
Castle View. I emailed them but got no reply. Now I'm hearing that
Cosmos are going to be offering it. Watch this space.
Yes they have. I received a letter on Friday to say that the contract with Jenel had been cancelled and that I was being moved to Alia. This I was not pleased about for obvious reasons. Jenel is on the front and is a large apartment. Alia is on the main road with no views, not to mention the noise. When I spoke to Olympic they told me that it was equivalent accommodation to what I had booked. I informed them it was nonsense and refused the move to Alia. Olympic would not allow me to cancel, and said if I did they would charge me £100 cancellation fee. The only option I had was to move to another area in Rhodes or go to another island. Olympic would not honour the discounts either that were offered when I booked in July. The only thing that Olympice said was they would not charge an administration fee - this I was supposed to be grateful for!
Any further info on this move by Olympic would be appreciated, I only hope they are not going to pull out of Haraki altogether.
Regards
Suzy

I would thim the Alia is the same star rating but is not thesame viewsfter just returning from Haraki The Alia is a lot quieter now as under new management. I Sld put in a letter of complaint and tell them that it is the that have cancelled the contract so they should be offering you something of equal if not better and still hour there offer. Dont back down from them if you pers and tell them you're contacting ABTA

I usually book my holiday just a few weeks in advance, but this year
we ended up with a little time slot as we had to book around work
colleagues and some one to look after our dogs, so I thought I'd be
clever and book for next year to Jenel at the same time as I booked
this years holiday, and everyone would have to work there way around
us. It was the last night of our stay in Haraki, when I heard about
Olympic dropping Jenel, or as I gathered Jenel dropping Olympic! Oh
yes, I had the letter from Olympic offering me Alia 2 when I arrived
home, I thought this can't be happening again after Kosmar, I finally
phoned Olympic today, and explained, I booked for a sea view, not of
the back streets, (one of the best things I enjoy is eating my bowl of
Kellog's watching the sunrise over the bay) they will move us to Porto
Haraki, (we stayed at Angela this year there were cockroaches and
lots of ants) but will charge us admin charges!! and not at the early
bird booking price I paid, so very annoyed, I need the sea view so if
I book a double bedded room will I definatly get it?

All the doubles are sea view. The twins are all back views. However as discussed in previous threads regarding porta haraki. They are tiny.
I would say the Porta's are the size of a small kitchen or a small single bedroom with a double in it. As you are upset regarding your booking being changed, to get the sea view you may find you hate the lack of space. That being said we loved it and that is our choice for next year. Also it's above the resturant so me robed in nighty eating my breakfast is normally watched by lots of people eating breakfast in the resturants on the front resturants LOL.
The Alia2 are much larger rooms as we were nattering to fellow travellers in June and they were really happy with the accommodation there, but no view.
I would seriously consider what is better for you, the sea view at Porta, small and I mean small, or the larger rooms at Alia2.

I'm going to Haraki next week and hope to find out how Jenel and
Castle View are marketing their accommodations for next season. I'll
report back as soon as I have something meaningful to tell you.
We have always got a double bedded room at Porto Haraki, if you book it it should state it on your confirmation.
I think it is a bit thick charging you an admin fee when the change is not your problem.
Remember the double rooms at Poto Haraki are very small but who cares when you get that view

Thanks for the info, just wanted to be 100% sure to get a sea view at
the Porto before I book it, not bothered about the size, as long as it
has a bed and a bathroom! I hardly spend any time in it anyway, A few
years ago I stayed at the Alia2 and they were fine, no complaints
against them, they just don't have the sea view. My favourite
apartments were the Stella, they were charging €40 per night this year
x 14, plus fights & transfers, that's why we've gone with Olympic.
2008 Thompson changed our flights to shit times .I said they were not suitable .I could have the same time flights but from Gatwick (we were going from Stansted ) but there would be a charge I refused to pay it coz they were the ones to change it .They dropped the charge .

Cost is why a lot of go Olympic Morag.
All you need is a bed, a fridge, a shower and a balcony, preferably with sea view.
You only sleep & shower there and have a little drinky on the balcony, who needs more?

Don't back down to them, after several heated conversations with
Olympic, (don't they have pathetic times for customer complaints! most
people are at work) I explained I booked a sea view at the Jenel, I
did'nt want the Alia 2 (which are very nice) yes, they would move me
to the Porto Haraki, but not honour my early booking and charge me an
administration fee adding about £200 on to my original holiday cheek
of it, for down grading from a 1 bed apartment to a studio! told them
they were behaving like 'Big Brother' finaly last week I've got them
to honour the early booking, and have written a letter of complaint so
I should get back the admin fee so I'm
told.
