Whilst every effort is made to ensure that information contained on this site is correct and up to date, no responsibility or liability can be accepted for any loss or damage incurred as a result of relying on information contained within this website. Reservations, bookings and payment must be confirmed with Halton Charters.

 

 

Halton Charters Booking Terms and Conditions

 

In Short: 

• 25percent deposit, balance three months in advance.
• Cheques to Halton Charters, 3 Ness Rd, Stromness, Orkney KW16 3DL 
• Take out holiday insurance.
• Weather happens: I try to get you in the best place suitable or make up the lost dives another day during the week; you pay anyway.
• Don't bash the wrecks.

 

Please read the following carefully before sending a deposit and BookingForm.pdf (and therefore agreeing to a charter). By sending a deposit and Booking Form you are agreeing to these Terms and Conditions.

 

A 25% deposit and completed BookingForm.pdf is required to confirm your booking with Halton Charters. This deposit is non refundable.

 

Every person making a booking on behalf of a passenger or group of passengers confirms that he/she has the authority of that passenger and that each such passenger agrees to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

 

For any charters the balance of the charter price is payable three months in advance.

 

If as a group you are unable to honour a full charter and wish to take individual spaces instead then the booking should be altered no less than 3 months prior to the start of the charter.  If any alteration to the original booking has not been made 3 months prior to the charter then the full balance will be payable [Halton Charters will try their best to fill any additional spaces on you behalf if requested]. Please keep me in touch if the group numbers start eroding: given time, I can often fill individual spaces.

 

Customers have been known, due to unforeseen circumstances, to cancel all or part of their diving holiday. This is not something Halton Charters can be held liable for and as such we recommend you take out holiday insurance which should cover your expenses in this eventuality. Therefore the price of your charter will not be refunded.

 

If owing to circumstances beyond our control, we cannot provide the charter booked or a suitable alternative, we will refund all money paid, in full, and the passenger shall have no further claim against us.

 

Halton Charters reserve the right to vary the charter in any way we consider necessary due to adverse weather or any other conditions. Ultimate decisions regarding the safety of the vessel, and those on board rest with the skipper. The skipper will always endeavour to find suitable alternative/sheltered dive sites. Most bookings are for a week so lost dives can usually be caught up with within this time frame. As a diver myself I do appreciate your concerns as to losing diving but at the end of the day the boat costs the same whether I go to sea or not: however I will do whatever is safely possible to get you in the water.

 

The Halton is fully insured to carry 12 passengers within it's area of operation. Our insurance does not cover passengers who are away from the vessel or while engaged in diving activities. We do not accept responsibility for loss of, or damage to, passengers gear, property or valuables whilst onboard or in transit. With this in mind please ensure you have adequate holiday insurance cover.

  

The skipper may refuse to carry any passenger or their luggage for any reason relating to the safety of the vessel and it's passengers. The skipper also reserves the right to refuse to carry any passenger who contravenes the diving regulations relating to the wrecks of the German Fleet.

 

The Halton operates under a strict "look but don't touch" policy in Scapa Flow. There will be zero tolerance of any artifacts recovery on the German High Seas Fleet or any other wreck protected under UK legislation. Where artifact recovery is permissible under UK law, the authorities (ie the Receiver of Wreck) will be notified and the correct protocols followed. Even where permitted, the Halton would strongly advise the "look but don't touch" policy to be adhered to.

 

We reserve the right to alter these Terms and conditions at any time.

Please make all cheques out to Halton Charters. Unfortunately at this time we cannot accept credit cards. Please ensure your preferred dates are available and that you have confirmed your charter price before submitting your deposit.

 

 

 

Responsible of the chartering group whilst aboard the Halton

 
The chartering group will be responsible for:

• Any damage caused by the group to the vessel.
• Identifying the dive marshal to the skipper.
• Their ability, good conduct and adherence both to any limitations imposed by their diving certification and 'safe diving practice'.
  
• Notifying the skipper of type and depth of dive site required and all planned in-water times.
• The supply of; safe working condition of; and suitability of, all diving equipment likely to be utilised by the group including cylinders being in test and oxygen clean where required.
  
• The stowage of all diving and personal equipment.
