EDITING PROCEDURE DOES NOT WORK.
INSTRUCTIONS TO CHANGE LISTINGS DO NOT WORK.
GOOGLE'S LOCAL BUSINESS CENTER IS BROKEN.
It has been broken for a month, since August 20, 2008.
Verification system is broken.
My listing was fine for over two years, and now it is hosed. I changed
nothing before it broke, I did not break it, and I am not able to fix
it.
Please look at the root cause instead of assuming it is a user
problem.
IT IS NOT A USER PROBLEM. IT IS A SYSTEMIC BREAK.
THE SYSTEM IS AT FAULT. THE SWITCH TO NEW MAP VENDOR IS FAILING.
Thanks for your attention.

I just noticed that something has recently changed in Google Maps,
much for the worse.
Google maps used to display road numbers, and also highlighted pretty
much any road that had a number assigned. But now only major routes
are being identified by number, and many fewer roads are highlighted.
For example, 5xx and 6xx roads in northern NJ are no longer being
identified by number, only by local road name. See the following
route, which follows 579->625->635->645:
And, if you have any pre-existing routes saved, you had best re-check
them because Google is using a different algorithm to route you
between your waypoints. You could wind up on a drastically different
route than you expect.
Maps Guide Adam,
I have tried changing the name and address to get the listing to re-
verify, but it will not ask me to verify.
The listing is otherwise correct, but continues to NOT SHOW on Maps.
I am unable to re-verify it so it will show. Please fix it, or reset
whatever is broken that will not allow me to re-verify my listing.
Thanks.

Since the Map Data update, my address is no longer found by google
maps.
I went through the Tele-Atlas website to report the error, and to my
surprise my location was found correctly by their site using the same
search paramters.
So this appears to be a google issue, and not a problem with the data
provider.
But I could not find a way to report a problem to Google about it.

What did you do the the Maps no secondary roads being show the
incorrect address location being show (off by a 1/2 Mile) In getting
direction Map now showing routes that are 20% to 30% longer due to the
fact they no longer use 2 lane roads in the country

people find our subdivision.
When you did the change on Sept 19, 2008, Google or Tele Maps must
have just lost all of the updates/changes, including street views.
This is just sloppiness on someone's part.
I started using Google Maps because of the features, street view,
being able to drag the route to modify directions, etc.
Now, it's useless. Guess, I'll go back to MSN Live Maps.

I've reported a map labeling problem to TeleAtlas last year and it's
yet to be corrected.
So here's your update: Most of the geography in Southwestern Ontario,
Canada is in the process of abandoning Google Maps in favour of Live
Maps. Every resident and business owner within approx 200kms of London
Ontario, who DO NOT have an address in London ON, no longer wish to be
labelled as such, so Google Maps is out of the question.
From previous help group conversations, I have gathered this anomoly
is reserved only for those whose internet access uses IP addresses for
this geo-location (ie. everyone else outside of SW Ontario sees
correct info, but locally it is incorrect). Here is what we see as an
example, using an Exeter Ontario address with a London label
http://www.lambtonshores.com/google/Google_Miss_Label.gif
Creating this post is my goodbye message regarding this problem since
there doesn't seem to be any other way to contact the Forbidden City.
I use Google maps in my directory for it's superiority over similar on-
line applications, but it's now lost. I have no choice, the fix is to
switch. I can't take the calls to correct anymore and asking people to
wait for Google Maps to correct itself is lost with patience. Sorry, I
don't want to go but it has to be done.

street is nonexistant. It's very frustrating. Plus there's a glitch in
the system. I can click and drag the street view guy to where my
street used to be and one of the street view 360 images is still
there. I can see my backyard and car but can't move along the path of
my street. LOL. Oh well, time to go back to microsoft for another few
years until all of this crap gets fixed.

A bit of trial and error found...
Adding a house number and it fails to find the street
Adding the village name "Homer Glen", and it fails to find the street.
I could probably live with that if there was a way of referencing my
street so that directions could lead you to the house - you can't get
to my house from "W Oakwood Drive".
I guess my big problem is I can't figure out how to report the
problem. Google says to report it to Tele-Atlas, but Tele-Atlas can
resolve the address fine - so I can't report the problem there :( Any
ideas??

Are you saying that the section of road which is covered by trees is the road divider?
It doesn't look like one, so maybe this is why most mappers do not distinguish between the roads. It simply looks like a group of trees that overhang the road.

Yeah. Strange. Those are things that only the Google Maps team can explain.
On a side note, I noticed that Mokena IL has a street named Oakwood Drive. The city is very close to yours with its West Oakwood. This may be confusing to mapping applications.

I really don't know what to do when TeleAtlas displays it correctly. Google has only said to report errors to them; they have never said what to do with this situation.
This Google Group is the only medium that Google will accept requests for troubleshooting help. (Notice that I said "accept" and not "respond to" or "provide". They are infamous for not responding...!)

You can try to report the problem directly to Google here
http://maps.google.com/support/bin/request.py?contact_type=data_errors Although this page seems to be, according to Google, a page to report
satellite imagery problems only, there is options for road errors
under the error type drop down box.
In any case there is nothing to loose at this point.

I took a look at this location in Google Maps, and several other
online mapping applications. I've replicated and submitted the three
bugs you discovered:
1) The city is in the Tele Atlas data as 'Homer', not 'Homer Glen'.
2) The street segment east of S Parker Rd is actually 'W Oakwood Ct',
not 'W Oakwood Dr'. [Note: all the online mapping applications I
reviewed display the entire street as 'W Oakwood Dr']
3) Vehicle routing algorithms between S Parker Road and S Golden Oak
Drive shouldn't be using this street due to the concrete barrier and
mature trees at the terminus of the cul-de-sac which prevent vehicular
passage.
Thanks for your feedback and your patience as we work with our data
vendor to improve the data quality.

Besides, If I did manage to find my way to the page I think the link
was going to, please - does Google really think telling people all
over the "geography in Southwestern Ontario, Canada" (or any other
large geographical area), that the fix is to fix it yourself (with
it's protocols)? Quite a leap of faith. I admire the optimism.

Switching providers was not a good idea. Tele Atlas has some egregious
