Summary: Sanyo SCP-7050 on Bell Mobility not recognized; GMM works but
need signed version and GPS enabled
1. Google Maps for mobile version:
2.3.1 (Have also tried 2.2.0 and 1.6.4)
2. Specific device (Manufacturer, model name, model number):
Sanyo SCP-7050 (UserAgent is Sanyo_SCP-7050CA NetFront/3.3 MMP/2.0)
3. Exact OS (ie. Symbian S60, Symbian UIQ, Windows Mobile 6 Standard,
Windows Mobile 6 Professional, etc):
J2ME
4. Summary of issue (including error messages):
The site http://m.google.com/gmm gives: "Sorry Google Maps does not
work on your Sanyo SCP-7050", yet GMM 2.3.1 does work (except Help>My
Location says "Sorry, My Location is not available on this device").
5. Reproduction Steps/Notes:
When I browse to m.google.com/gmm I get: Sorry Google Maps does not
work on your Sanyo SCP-7050. I was able to download GMM 1.6.4 a year
ago with no problem, and it continues to work fine. When I download a
generic, advanced version to my PC, find the jar URL in the jad to
download the jar, and upload the jar via the Rumkin site, then version
2.3.1 works well except that My Location is not supported (even though
the phone has an autonomous GPS and implements JSR-179, unlike Sprint
versions of the phone), and constantly prompts for network access
(because the JAD didn't include signing).
6. Desired Results:
Download requests with UserAgent: Sanyo_SCP-7050CA NetFront/3.3 MMP/
2.0 should be directed to a signed download, and My Location should
work (via GPS using JSR-179).
In the meantime, what is the URL for a signed, generic, JSR-179
enabled download?
8. Links to other posts about this issue (please don't repost bugs):
There are no other posts about the Canadian (Bell Mobility) Sanyo
SCP-7050, which unlike the Sprint version, has the GPS enabled via
JSR-179.
If you squint hard and know what to look for you can see that that one
of the roads is the M25 and the other is the A1(M) but it's really
hard to read. The junction numbers are completely illegible
This other map is from somewhere around new york, again the road
number is illegible:
M800 Samsung Instinct wont run google maps. Can you please make a
patch for it. The program downloads and installs fine, but when you go
to run it, it freeze up on the accept/decline page

the transmitted data.
