How to Change index file location

Hello geeks,

I know this question has been asked previously but i didn't find a
solution. so asking it again. I have a 500GB external hard disk and it
is not a good idea to hve an index file for it on my C drive(i hve
limited space in dat). I would like the index file to be in my
external HDD. How to do it. following thread didnt answer the

I have the same problem on two computers and the information on the //
desktop link does not help. I only use one identity, Outlook Express
version 6 is my only email programme and I use Windows xp.

Can anyone say they have no trouble finding emails on OE ?

Unable to index large files

Google Desktop is not able to search large the content of large pdf
files (10 to 60 MB) in my computer.
Is there any solution?

Exclude directories

Hello,

I need to index only one subdirectory in a directory that has many
subdirectories. How to do that without having to name every
subdirectory I do not want to index?

e.g.
Exclude whole drive:\directory\
Include only drive:\directory\subdirectory\

is that possible?

How do i install precious metals gadgets for google desktop??

SIr,

I tried installing precious metal gadget (posted under finance) many
times but everytime an error message comes saying "FAILED TO COPY THE
GADGET - PRECIOUS METAL SPOT PRICES.. PLEASE CHECK IF A GADGET WITH
THE SAME NAME IS ALREADY INSTALLED AND REMOVE THE OLD GADGET BEFORE
PROCEEDING." What do i do? from where i can see the previous installed

Problem with desktop

Dear Sir,
There is a problem in the programme. I cannot open the same. When I
clik a message is coming to contact google desktop. When I use
internet it disconnects often and again I have to log in .

desktop search is not searching or indexing outlook express. it finds

My home page is igoogle. I change the scenes at the top according to
seasons. All has been fine. Now??? When I log on the scene at the top
is visible for about five seconds. It then is cut in half by lower
part of home page. All I see is heads or tree tops.

Indexing emails in Outlook

I have used Google Desktop for sometime. In the past it indexed the
emails in the inbox in MS-Outlook. I imported some emails into
Outlook that i wanted to search so I deleted Google Desktop and
reistalled it thinking it would index all of the emails now in my

I'll try that. From your side, have tried to put the sidebar on the
left? Does it behave like mine?
But I really would like the bar on the left. It's much more handy for
me!
