I installed Google Desktop on my new HP Netbook (running XP).  The
installation appeared to be successful, and indexing commenced.  But
the indexing stopped at 52% complete, and it won't continue.  I
restarted the computer to no effect.  Finally, I uninstalled and
downloaded the suggested alternate  installer suggested by Google at:
http://desktop.google.com/GoogleDesktopSetup.exe .  The install using
this alternate installer again seemed to go well, and the indexing
worked up to 52%--when it again stopped and wouldn't continue.  Any
ideas about what is causing the indexing to quit?

I have the same issue. My new laptop stuck in 12% for 4-5 days already
with GDS.  I have to install Windows Desktop search since I have 40+GB
of documents needs to find info on.

Windows Desktop search 4.0 support "force indexing" instead of waiting
for the "idle".  I have to use that for now, since GDS refuse to
continue the index.

I think WDS support indexing the "Mounted" drive better too.   I have
issue with GDS indexing the Mounted disk in another system.

I think Google should implement such features.
