Electrician
We finally had the garage conversion wired in last week. I was quoted £400 for connection, testing, and supply of 2nd fix parts, which included around 13 double sockets, 3 single sockets, and 3 or 4 switches, along with a 5-way CU with RCD. I was promised MK sockets by the electrician. When I spoke to him a few... more »

Ethernet cabling
I'm ready to wire the ethernet sockets into the garage conversion, but I note that the instructions talk of a type A and a type B wiring. Does it matter which I go for, as long as I use the same throughout? Thanks John

SmartAX MT882 wired router
I have a SmartAX MT882 wired router which a friend gave me, after he had ditched TalkTalk. I wish to configure it to work on Plus.Net. I connected the ADSL line and power supply to it, but the ADSL light never lit. I then connected Ethernet cable and went into Firefox and was able to gain admittance to the settings.... more »

Electrical box problem
My son tried to replace the cooker switch/socket with posh one. Problem is he overlooked the fact that the new posh version has a much thinner face plate, the screws hit the back of the metal box in the wall, he carried on tightening and has stripped the threads in the little metal tabs in the box.... more »

Computer from 1980/90
Cast your minds back friends to the 1980's and 1990's please. A friend of mine used to own a computer, but he has forgotten the make of it, but I can remember it quite well. Black in colour. Full QWERTY keyboard, with grey keys. The keyboard was on a slope then it was flat towards the back. It had a telephone modem inside. It... more »
