Daren

I have tracked it to the fact that I do not have service pack1 for my
copy of XP and now MS won't let me load SP1 as my copy of XP will not
verify as it belongs to another computer.

Only way out of this seems to be to buy another copy of XP :(

Just for fun I have started a blog. It's purpose is to discuss
operating systems and how they can be improved, I am hoping that the
knowledge many of us have about Macs, Linux and Windows can help users
of any operating system with their setup.

I believe that a drive can only be mounted once, either the Mac can
mount it or Windows can mount it, but not both. I believe there is a
setting to choose which OS (primary or guest) gets to mount disks
first, within the VMWare preferences. Sorry I am nowhere near my Mac
so I can't say where the setting is.

Loaded Windows XP and things are going well untill trying to get
windows to see memory stick. VM Ware sees it on the tool bar on the
bottom but Windows just won/t see it. Any suggestions.

Thanks very much, John, it worked. Since, however, I've nothing to
hide from the security services, and since Al Quaeda almost certainly
use Windows machines, do I absolutely have to have passwords? I object
to a machine telling me what to do; it's surely against the natural
order of things.

You will need an OS X Install disc. Boot from that disc and choose the
'Reset Password' from the Utilities menu.

I've just bought a slightly less old G4/450 Dual from ScrumpyMacs,
with which I am well pleased, but which will not allow me to install
my printer because I don't know the password set by the previous
owner. How can I find out? (Words of one syllable please!)

Software, makers of some fine Mac software.
