Hi guys and gals

The Coast to Coast Devon 2 day race looks like it is possibly going to
be an awesome event in the calendar. I have done a few xterra type
races and enduro events (specifically mountain bike marathons and
running races) and am considering signing up for Devon C2C.

The only thing is that although I do a lot of cycling events (up to
100k races) these are MTB rides and not road riding. I in fact do not
have a road bike. I am confortable with trail runs, road runs, MTBing
and even the kayaking required for this race, but wanted to know if
anyone has done this event before and what bikes are used for the road
ride section?

I guess the ultimate questions would be - can I get around the course
by having slicks on my MTB for the road ride section and switching
back to nobbly tires for the MTB section the next day? Will I make the
cut off times and am I going to be Nigel no friends at the back of the
group if I use my mountain bike?

Your thoughts and suggestions welcome...

D
