Hi Rob

I used an OMM (Original Mountain Marathon) pack back - its only 10 litres
(think it's called 'The last drop' and I put a 2 litre water bladder in it
that I've used in rucksacks when hiking before. Hi Gareth

I did the 7 marathon events last year and I've jotted down a few thoughts /
observations / tips that I found:

- Weather was good last year for the series so really the main issue was
(sometimes very) muddy paths on some of the routes - trail shoes were a
benefit. But definitely carry a woolly hat, gloves and a running jacket,

 Hi Gareth
A good pair off trail shoes is probably the best kit advice. There is
usually the Endurance life tents there selling hot / cold drinks,
energy bars etc.. As well as some kit. I like to get here early as you
get to chat to other runners and in your case you would probably see
the H/M runners start. Not sure where exactly the start is in

You can book
without being a YHA member. I think there is another YH the other side
of Charmouth, not sure of name.

Hope this helps
Kev

Lyme regis is the largest town close to Charmouth. Just along the
coast you also have Westbay and Bridport. I have not stayed in any of
these so I cant recommend anywhere. I have stayed at The Lugger Inn
which is in Chickerell. It`s a 30 min drive along the coast from
Charmouth.
Hope this helps.

If I compete then I'm hoping to have my own support crew to
give me a dry pair of socks at the very least. The first crossing

No
problems, bit muddy in places, but not that bad.

For the two day race, i think you are required to use a MTB. Thats why
on day one you can use slicks and then switch to off road tyres for
day 2. Mixed terrain trails in teh UK can be all of what you described

 Hi Steve

If I can do it twice anyone can! My brother-in-law walk/jogged it last
year in 12 hours with just five-a-side football for training.

There is more information on the Facebook page for the event including
my obsevations on training badly in the first year and a bit better
the second - thoroughly enjoyed both weirdly!

The car park at Land's End is pay and display - you pay at the ticket
machine as you drive in (there's no barrier though). And ISTR it's a
flat rate of £3 for a car.

Hope that helps,

Ewan
