Thanks to everyone who posted replies to my key to successful trail
running and hydration system.
I took part in the amazing Classic Quarter as part of a relay team.
What an incredible day! My respect to all those who took part,
especially the solo entrants. Well done to the EL team for organising
such an event.
I ran wearing a camelbak which cost £45 (tailormade made for biking)
but still worked very well with spinal flow, padding and chest strap.
Small sips every half mile were very welcome as I did last leg of race
in hot sun. I also kept a close tab on my "perceived effort"
throughout race and aimed at 65-75% whether uphill or downhill.
Funny thing was: I was going to run my own race and just try and
complete my relay leg because it was the furthest distance that I have
run since I was a teenager. However, as the day unfolded everyone in
my team was trying their hardest to get their best possible time. So I
went at it much harder when it came time for me to run the last leg.
I have only just got into trail running this year as a way to keep fit
and be in nature, now that the age of 40 is coming. Love the EL events
and can't wait to do more. I'm thinking Half Marathon in Autumn and
Marathon in new year!
Nice one, Endurancelife.
