I was still using Pidgin 2.10 which was installed when I bought this
Elonex OneT. On 6 December 2009 I could connect and chat quite
happily on MSN ... on 7 December I started getting the message "Our
protocol is not supported by the server".

register because it's so stupid, (my AbiWord kept going out to

One year later... Things are a lot calmer this year... There doesn't
seem to be a mad rush to buy Netbooks. The Elonex site is no longer
offering any of their machines directly for sale, suggesting you can
buy their 10 inch Webbook from Carphone Warehouse...

Cannot engage software recovery mode

Hi Folks,

I wanted to install an alternate OS, but when I tried, I think I've
damaged the native software, and I can't get it to do the software
recovery thing.

I have downloaded the files, put them on an SD card, in the slot and

I was trying to display Japanese characters on the Web browser.
Referring to some web sites, I created the directory "TrueType" under
the "/lib/X11/fonts" directory. I copied a truetype font file into the
"TrueType" directory and also created the "fonts.dir" in the same
directory. I am nearly certain that the place I created is right.

I have obtained a machine it has 2gb ram and currently a 2gb sd
installed. 32 gb SD ordered

The primary funtion is a holiday PC for email, posting picture to
picasa, editing photos, playing video and music. The media programme
with the OS is poor and there is no viable photo editor

I HAVE TRIED ALL VERSIONS (9 to 10), but can't seem to find the right one !

This shouldn’t be as difficult as it is.
This is my list on how to do it, do not depart from the list or
install anything which could affect the 3g or it won’t work.
1. Upgrade the firmware (different to the OS).

Automating WiFi connection at startup

I am successfully using WiFi on my Onet+, but this requires me to do
the following after boot up:

1. Run the wireless-lan utility from the Internet tab (or run /bin/
wireless-lan from the command line)
2. Explicitly connect to my SMC router from the list of networks
shown.

Has anybody got the "Preferred Network" conection to work for them,
