Experience and innovation: working in partnership
6-7 November 2007, Rockley Park, Poole, Dorset

Following the success of the conference celebrating Mind's 60th anniversary,
it has been decided to run a second event for service users and survivors
only. This 24-hour conference is jointly subsidised and organised by Mind
and the National Survivor User Network. The event will:

Provide a forum for sharing experience and knowledge
Celebrate the skills and talent we have within the service user movement
Help to foster partnership working between groups
Formally launch the National Survivor User Network

Free places:
As well as paying places there are also a number of free places (including
help towards transport costs) available at this event. Due to the postal
strike, the deadline for applications for free places has been extended to
Wednesday 17 October.

Access to justice: creating equality for people with mental health problems
Regents College Conference Centre, 29 November 2007

The problem:
People with experience of mental distress are more likely to be the victims
of crime, including disability hate crime, domestic violence, elder abuse
and anti-social behaviour.

Mind believes that victims and witnesses with experience of mental distress
are not, at present, adequately served by the criminal justice system and by
other mechanisms for redress, including health service complaints
procedures.

What can we do?
This conference will be the first step in raising awareness amongst key
stakeholders in the criminal justice world of the need to provide a more
flexible and responsive service for victims and witnesses experiencing
mental distress.

For full information, visit
http://www.mind.org.uk/Information/Conference+and+training/Access+to+...
+information.htm or contact the conference and training unit on 020 8215
2312.

We hope to see you there!

Best wishes,

Pru Sly
Conference and Training Manager
