I had a very productive meeting with Tom and Carl from Native HQ,
where we discussed how Butetown.org can be improved. At the moment
the .org site is down, although the ning site is still active. Partly
due to a lack of resources, partly due to commitment to other work
project butetown.org has been neglected of late.... more »

in Cardiff last week by Tom Beardshaw and me and posted at

Digital Butetown event, October 9th, 2009 - update

On Friday, October 9th, Tom Beardshaw and Carl Morris are to run a
workshop at The Old Library, Cardfiff City Centre for:
- Up to 26 x 16-18yr olds from Fitzalan School, studying AS Level
Media.

1) I have had meetings/conversations since the event in July with
various stake/shareholders in digital engagement in Wales, including
the Welsh Assembly, OFCOM Wales and the George Ewart Centre for

What I am interested in for 'DigitalButetown' is how can the internet, website, social-media effect economic inactivity, spark the existing creativity within Butetown residents into new careers and harness the entrepreneurial spirit (i.e the young men I see hustling on the corners) into successful businesses.... more »
