Subject: Reduce Portion Size to Increase Weight Loss
Controlling the size of your portions is an important step in reducing
calorie consumption. Experiments have proven that when people are
offered large amounts of food they will eat more than they need. At
BBQ's and buffets, the large variety of foods also tempts people to
pile up their plates, eating a staggering 60 percent more than normal!

To reduce you portion size, try cooking smaller quantities of food to
reduce the temptation to overindulge and use smaller plates and bowls
to make it harder to eat more than you need.

Other research has shown that unless we are continually reminded of
what we eat, we have a tendency to eat more the necessary. A test with
chicken drumsticks highlights our natural propensity to overeat.
People ate 10 percent more when the chicken bones were removed from
the table than when they were left to remind them just how many
chicken drumsticks they had consumed.

Being cognizant of our inclination to eat more than we need can help
us reduce our portion sizes. Keeping a food diary can also help remind
us just how much we're eating and help control our calorie intake.

Our dieting software, Diet Planner Pro, is an effective food diary and
calorie counter that can help you take control of your diet.  To learn
