We tend to camp when we go on trips, and of course live quite close to
a lot of the route, so haven't got any recommendations. Hope some
other users can help out. If anyone does have a place to recommend,
they can register on the site and put a marker on the map for everyone
else to see.

This is a great site! Well done.

Does anyone have accommodation recommendations for route 70? I'd like
to split the 173 miles over two to three days. Not picky about the
type of accommodation (independent b&b or hotel chain), as long as
it's near a few pubs (especially real ale pubs!)

Potholes and other hazards

I've just reported the deformed tarmac on the railway bridge in Park
Lane, Congleton, using the pothole report form link on the Congleton
Cycling Campaign web site.

The council responds very quickly to any problems reported - the form
is not just for potholes but for any other defects including street

Where does 'Route 73' go?

You may have noticed nice little blue signs around town with '73' and
a bicycle printed on them. You may also have wondered 'what is 73' and
where does it go.

We are advised by Cheshire County Council that Regional Cycle Route 73
runs from Davenham, near Northwich to Congleton. Its purpose is to

New delicatessen & coffee shop

We are starting up a new delicatessen and coffee shop in Swettenham
Heath, opening on 16th November. It will be based at Clonter Opera
Theatre, and called Deli At The Opera. To start with we are opening 3
days a week (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) from 10am to 5pm. We'll be
doing light lunches, tea, coffee and cakes, and will be happy to do

Congleton Cycling Campaign's support for Connect2

The next meeting of the Congleton Cycling Campaign will be on Monday
26th November at 20.00 in the bar at Congleton Leisure Centre. At this
meeting we will discuss the 'Connect2' project that is aiming to win
the £50 million People's Lottery money in December 2007.

We'll cycle to and from the country park via national route 55 and
local route 71, calling at the Bluebell Inn in Smallwood on the
return. Bring waterproofs, a snack and a bag for any fungi you
collect. Olga won't know until Sunday whether she'll be able to join

The Congleton Cycling Campaign's annual ride to foray for fungi is on
Sunday 9th September, meeting at 10.30am by the bowling green in
Congleton Park. Then a pedal out along the lanes to the woods in the
country park, where last year we found all sorts of interesting and
edible fungi with the help of our knowledgeable guide Olga.
