We are advised by Cheshire County Council that Regional Cycle Route 73
runs from Davenham, near Northwich to Congleton. Its purpose is to
link together National Cycle Network routes 55, in Congleton, and 5,
at Davenham.
All these routes form part of the National Cycle Network that has now
been in existence for over 10 years and which, is constantly
expanding.

The Congleton Cycling Campaign have incorporated Route 73 into the
Congleton Cycling Network and this particular part gets you from Box
Lane and West Heath to the town centre without having to suffer the
Wagon and Horses Junction and West Road. The route as far as Wagg
Street is signed and we are told that the County Council have funds
available to surface the path across the green space between Solly
Crescent and Newcastle Road. We are still waiting for official
guidance on how the route goes from Wagg Street to Congleton Park
where it joins NCN55. We have however plotted a line on our map that
suggests that you use Bridge Street but that you walk through there.
