London is potentially a heart for a European cultural avant-garde. It is one of the most culturally active and cosmopolitan places in Europe. Yet it is also the capital of what is often portrayed as being one of the most Euro-sceptic of nations: it is a capital struggling to recognise itself.
European Alternatives, in association with Allianz Kulturstiftung and with the participation of Chelsea "Critical Practice" group, is delighted to announce a Cultural Congress to reason on the role of the arts in the contemporary European reality.
Over the weekend of the 15th and 16th of March, during the London Festival of Europe 2008, European Alternatives will invite numerous artists, critics, curators and academics to London for a Congress on the future of artistic culture in Europe and the meaning of engagement in the arts today.
The present Forum serves to give all those who are interested in the Congress a chance to share ideas and initiate discussions.
