Consultation on the "long list" of schemes is now open (until 18th
December). It should be possible to access this consultation at:

The list of suggested schemes can be examined and, if you have
additional ideas, they can be put forward.

The latest newsletter on the Oxfordshire Local Transport Plan can be

It lists the agreed objectives for the LTP.

The line from the Drayton Depot regarding painting a line along the
edge is:

"The raised section in question is a footway & not a cycleway; when
travelling towards Abingdon it is clearly signed that the cycleway
ends before you reach the raised section. If an edge line were to be
installed it would give the impression to cyclists that the cycleway

It does irritate me when the government claims it wants to encourage
more people to cycle to work, and acts on this by trying to get
employers to install more showers ([link]
sustainable/cycling/cycletowor k/ ). More showers would be lovely, but
it's not what puts people off cycling. That would be the poor

Two weeks ago last Friday a small black hatchback decided to run me
off the Long Wittenham, road blasting the horn and swerving into me.
There's a pattern emerging here.....I was seeing too much red mist to
get the plate number..

As I was cycling home on Friday, someone overtook me with a blare of
horn at the start of the elevated section of causeway, just past the
bridge after Colmoor Farm. As I overtook him 30 seconds later in the
inevitable traffic queue he shouted, "There's a cyclepath," out of his
window.

I couldn't be bothered to stop and explain the Highway Code to him;

I was unfortunate enough to be in a collision with another cyclist
going home in the dark last week. I was following about 10 metres
behind another cyclist and so I thought that I was safe from on-coming
pedestrians and cyclists. However a fast moving on-coming cyclist
safely passed the person in front of me but then failed to leave me

I attended the "transport" portion of the Culham Local Liaison
Committee meeting on 15th October. It was also attended by various
people from councils from parish up to county level, representatives
from the European School, and one of Oxfordshire County Council's area
traffic engineers.

I fully agree with Vaughan that the causeway should be upgraded and
that the best way to achieve this is by working with the European
School and the Local Liaison Committee. I think any arguments
concerning ancient monuments or cost have to be secondary to safety. I

I agree with your points, the Causeway is a bad place to cycle, but
slightly better than the alternative of the A415. I have in the past
contacted OCC about this area and failed to get anything done. It is
by far the worst part of a commute from Abingdon...

Hi Vaughan,

Another problem with the causeway is that it is apparently a
"scheduled ancient monument", which limits what the council can do
with it.

There was recently a preliminary meeting between the council and some
people from CSC to discuss transport issues to the site and I know
that the causeway was going to be discussed - I'll chase that up with

Good work Vaughan. I join the A415 at Culham so have no experience of
the causeway, however I would like to see an improvement to the site
end of the cycle path. It is unclear from the signage how one is
supposed to enter site on a bike, everyone myself included seems to go
along the path diagonally towards the main gate although I suspect

This year's event will be on Sunday 20th September, starting and
finishing in Clifton Hampton and will be 50 miles of cycling on quiet,
flattish (mostly) roads and cycle paths through the glorious
Oxfordshire countryside. Starting at around 09:45 and finishing late
