Personal and professional history

As an archaeological illustrator with over 18 years experience, I have a natural inclination towards attention to detail and patience, and bring this attitude with me to my three dimensional work.

I have produced pieces for Museums, historical interpretation groups, film and TV companies, and collectors in a variety of materials. Although initially specialising in fine-toothed boxwood combs, I now also produce pieces in other woods, and work in bone and horn.

The range of personal hygiene accessories, which I am able to provide to order, includes (but is not limited to) manicure sets in bone, mirrors, tweezers, ear scoops and more. Many of my turned pomanders are hand carved from boxwood, dyed with cochineal, and gilded with English Leaf or painted with tempera.

My range of weaving and sewing accessories includes double and single bobbins with needle hole and stopper, brass thimbles, fine needles of steel, brass and bone, needle cases and pots, lucets in wood and bone, heddles in holly and box, and drop spindles in a variety of materials including wood and stone. I also provide boxwood and other fine wood weaving tablets in a variety of shapes and sizes.

I also have a selection of turned boxwood and carved stone beads for personal adornment, and crosses for rosaries. Other small turned pieces include canisters, inkwells and dice pots.

I am able to supply many kits for daily life interpretation exercises including sewing, fishing and ink kits.

Recent additions to my treen work include the staved wooden tankards, originals of which may be seen at the Mary Rose Museum, Portsmouth.

More pieces are constantly being added so come back and check this groups page for updates, or contact me for a current list. Alternatively I can be found at various historical markets and events throughout the year including The Original Re-enactors Market, Coventry, in March and November.
