A5000: Uniboot gives complications
I'm trying to install Uniboot on an A5000 computer, as I did on another a couple of years ago. But System$Path comes out as Sys:310.,ADFS::IDEDisc4.$.!Boo t.Resources.!System. as indeed it did before. !Fliptop for the Colour Card cannot cope with this filename, and for my own use I was happy to change its !Run file to show an... more »

Can't boot RISC PC after RAM swap
Hi all, Have 2 RISC PCs. A RISC 600 and a strongARM. I tried putting the 2 memory banks of 96MB RAM from the strongARM in the RISC 600 to give it a bit more capacity whilst I tried out a few things. Unfortunately, the RISC 600 after swapping seems to go through the boot process but gives video output at H 15.4 KHz and V 50.0 Hz which... more »

Another 8-bit question
Hi all Can anyone remind me how sideways ram/rom works? Back in the day, I used to use View on a Master and got into it via *WORD. Now I have a BBC Micro with one of these CF drives built in. On the "hard drive" is a load of ROM images but for the life of me I can't remember how to use them. Come to think of it - I never did know much about sideways... more »

8-bit : Installing Sideways Rom in BBC B
Hi, Hope it's OK posting an 8-bit query. I've finally obtained an ATPL sideways ROM kit for my BBC B, even managing to install it without breaking any pins (or ROMS)! The problem I have is the OS ROM now touches the keyboard and I can't tighten the screws firmly, or the Down-Arrow key is pulled downward by... more »

Eee PC for RPCemu
Hi comrades in ARMs, Where is the best place to buy an EeePC 1000? This is the model with Linux pre-installed so that I can install RPCemu. I am not looking at the cheapest price necessarily, but good after sales service should I need it. I would prefer to buy from a RISC OS dealer, but the only one I know of that will sell EeePCs buys them... more »

Plasmasta vielä
Usealta taholta mulle on tullut tiedusteluja siitä, miksi juttusi saa niin massiivisen suuret puitteet nykyisessä Suomessa. Että miten ihmeessä tuhatpäiset SUPO-poliisi, insinöörilaumat kuukaudesta toisen jaksaa puuttua niihin aina vaan? A/Koska ne perustuu ennennäkemättömään vankasti todennetaviin... more »

Canon BJC-7100 cartridges
Hello all printers, I have put a new black cartridge, BC-60, in my Canon BJC-7100 printer and when I attempt to print anything or do a nozzle test it beeps at me 3 times which means, in its language, that the black cartridge is empty. :-(( I can get the printer to do the clean function and the change... more »

Formatting a pen drive
We've just bought two UniPods so we can use a 2GB pen drive to transfer files between two RPCs. Problem: the drive is DOS format so file names are truncated and all upper case. Reading up - I could update DOSFS, but things would (presumably) be quicker and better if I formatted it to RISC OS standard.... more »

Newbie questions
Hi all I've been doing a lot of googling about Acorn machines of late and I'd like to give RISC OS a try but I do find myself with quite a few questions before I spend anything. If these are addressed in a FAQ - fine - but I can't find them in any of the FAQs I've read... 1) Iyonix seems to be the latest RISC OS machine but according to Wikipedia... more »
