Subject: Networking parts for A5000
In a follow-up to my previous post on the subject "AUN to Econet". I
am now looking for specific parts for the A5000 I'm planning on using
as the fileserver. Initially I thought this machine had a Master 128
Econet expansion board fitted, but it doesn't seem to have any
networking hardware at all. So I'm in need of two things...

1x Econet expansion board. (Doesn't matter what type either Master 128
type or newer one as long as it will fit in with the second item on
this list.

1x Ethernet expansion board. (I'm planning to fix up both RPC class
hardware and earlier stuff on this LAN.)

I'd be grateful to anybody who could donate this stuff or point me in
the right direction.

There are 6 econet modules on Ebay at the moment.

FWIW you sound like you're doing exactly what I was 12 months ago - setting
up an econet bridge.   Going out
on a limb slightly but if that's what you're doing i.e. getting your A5000
on the web so you can download whatever
then put it onto a beeb via the econet route - it's good fun and quite
rewarding but could I respectfully suggest
trying one of Sprow's Ethernet modules for the Master 128.   If you have an
ethernet NAS - this is basically
all you need - you can treat your NAS like an ADFS disk.   I got mine a
fortnight ago and love it - so much#
easier than getting the L4FS to work on RISCOS, configuring ant internet
suite etc.   As I say it was fun to do
but this way is so much neater and future proof!

I may be talking complete rubbish because I've assumed a lot here - but
thought it was worthwhile saying before
you splash out on a lot of A5000 hardware that you probably won't be able to
sell on for a profit (like I did!!!).

What I'm trying to do is setup an A5000 as a fileserver for both an
Econet network consisting of older RISC OS equipment and an A7000+ &
StrongARM RPC equipment. So I need these parts to directly plug them
into the fileserver.

EBay is no good to me as I don't have a credit/debit card. However, if
someone in the know could sort us one out for at most a tenner, then
I'd be happy to forward them a cheque to cover purchasing costs and
P&P. If you could e-mail me at this address if you'd be happy to do
this.

That just leaves me with the Ethernet podule for A5000 to get...

We do have some of those as well but they are not cheap[1] as they are
comparatively rare i.e. we were sold out, but we have now got a couple.

[1] even the 10 base 2 Podules are 35GBP
http://www.cjemicros.co.uk/micros/individual/newprodpages/prodinfo.ph...

and 10 base T even more

I think I might have some somewhere. If you contact me via the usual APDL
email address I'll have a rummage.
