There have been two software releases on my Star Fighter 3000 web site
during the last fortnight. I sometimes make changes which are not
visible to end users because I am as much interested in the practice
of programming as the product. However, this time there are a few new
headline features:
SFSkyEdit version 1.53
http://starfighter.acornarcade.com/utils.htm#sfskyedit
* Implemented a facility to move the caret to a specific position
within a sky colours file.
* Sky previews now include a pseudo-random star field to show the
configured stars height.
* Implemented a facility to save a snapshot of a sky preview as a
Sprite file.
* Implemented a facility to change the viewing scale of a sky preview.
* The toolbars attached to a sky preview window can now be hidden.
* It is now possible to control the direction and angle of elevation
for a sky preview, in addition to the simulated altitude.
* The viewing altitude of a sky preview can now be changed by typing a
numeric value for more precise control than dragging the slider.
* No longer marks the file as having unsaved changes when the
compression offset or stars altitude is set from the preview window
unless at least one of those values has actually changed.
* Trapping the caret within the visible area of an editing window as
it is scrolled is now a global rather than per-window option.
Star Fighter 3000 version 3.13
http://starfighter.acornarcade.com/r2changes.html#v313
* There is a new option to show the average frame rate over the last
eight frames in an external toolbar attached to the main window. A
slider shows the ratio of the actual frame rate to the maximum
allowed.
* Created a new 'Desktop' section of the Choices dialogue box and
moved the 'Suspend when focus lost', 'Start in full-screen mode' and
scaling options into it.
* Which input device should be used for flight controls is now
configured using a set of radio buttons instead of separate option
buttons in the 'Mouse' and 'Joystick' sections of the Choices dialogue
box.
* The type of joystick (analogue or switched) is now configured using
a set of radio buttons instead of a pop-up menu.
* Improved the key names for a UK keyboard that are used in the
Choices dialogue box.
* Fixed a bug introduced in version 3.11 where the action button which
can be used to insert the current scale into the Choices dialogue box
was not labelled correctly until the scale had been changed.
