Subject: Multi-server-problem with NewsHound v1.50-32
-> NewsHound v1.50-32 is configured to more as one newsserver. I use it
   in add to MessengerPro 4.24.

Problems:
=========

1) I must manually replace the files ActiveDesc + ActiveList whenever I
   change the newsserver.

2) Fetching list from a new newsserver writes the old lists over.

3) A new post is sent to the next newsserver to which I post or from
which I fetch. If the required newsgroup isn't exist on it, the news
   will be rejected.

4) When I add a newsgroup, the newsgroup is added to the newsgroup
   file of EACH newsserver.

Sure, I can do everything manually to avoid problems but it is still a
bit of pain. Is there another solution for this?

3) You can select the news-server you post to via the Servers menu off
the 'Send Posts' option on the iconbar menu.

Perhaps I misunderstand the problem, but here in NewsHound Configure >
Fetch > News Fetch, all options are un-ticked, and I can then use the
iconbar menu to Start Fetch from, or Send Posts to, one of two servers.
Nothing happens until a menu option is chosen - or until I adjust-click
on the icon to start a fetch from the default server.

That's the way I use NewsHound, since my connection is not always-on.

Sorry, now I think my problem has to do with !MessengerPro, not with
NewsHound.

I use the configuration panel "group management" of !MessengerPro
(4.24). It seems to make no differences between the newsservers lists
while configurating them means it writes the choosed newsgroups to the
configuration files of ALL newsservers etc. Is there another / better
newsreader / agent for use of multiple newsservers? I found the
MessengerPro agent always a bit of overkill (gigantic horse) for mes
petits enfants et mes petits besoins.

MPro is changing the NewsHound config files, but there seems to be no
way of adding any one newsgroup to a particular server file. You could
edit, by hand, the NewsHound xxxGroup files to delete unwanted, or add
wanted, newsgroups.

You would need a replacement for _NewsHound_, which fetches the news.
Maybe someone else can suggest one.

I find the trouble comes when I write news postings *while* NewsHound is
downloading, which it then attempts to post to the next news-server in
line and which promptly bounce back....

I think here is something to improve. But I'm not sure if this issue
just belongs NewsHound or also includes the News-Agent.
