As far as I understand rs422 is onlz different from rs232 in its electrical
definition being a current loop instead of a voltage-level (whats that in
english? I think you'll understand what I mean!).

The only difference between a rs232 and rs422 should be the line-driver-chip
which is 1488/1489 (on of them driver, the other receiver) for rs232 to be
replaced by an equivalent (which won't be pin compatible, I'm afraid!).

Now it should be no Problem to get a COM-port compatible rs422 card so dont
care for special drivers, zou don't need them.

You could just add a converter which should do too. I think chips for that
matter are available just connect rs232 one and rs422 on the other side. But
don't ask me where to get all that stuff. It is now 4 years ago that a bothered
on that theme.

You could look into magazines like C't or something closer to data-acquisition
computing. They are advertising this stuff every month!
