Hello,

Yep, the Triggerfish reports from divers seem to indicate that Triggerfish
prefer rocky outcrops and wrecks amongst a bottom of pebbles/shingle.

From Dorset:
TRIGGER FISH & THE ROYAL ADELAIDE
Extract by Peter Glanvill

Until the 11th September 1990 I had never seen a Trigger Fish when diving,

Thanks for all the feedback and links. From reading the various reports on
the Glaucus website it would seem that dead triggerfish in the winter months
is not that unusual and that these fish are relatively common in SW England
and Wales.

I've had a look at the local records I've got here and the earliest CI

This morning I found a dead grey triggerfish (Balistes capriscus) washed up near Fort Henry in Grouville Bay, Jersey (photo attached). As far as I know, they are not especially rare during the summer months but are less commonly encountered during the winter. I recall that there used to be some debate about whether these fish migrate north into our waters annually or whether they form breeding populations here. This specimen is on the small size (length = 25cm; weight = 204 grams) and, although dead, was fresh. Does anyone know what the current thought is on the presence of this species in CI waters?
