I can't speak for Nick but I've been recently on a project which has kept me away from here. Once the projects first phase is over I'll be revisiting here and seeing what needs doing to get going.
There is still a need for a project like this so if possible instead of going on your own feel free to contribue and add into this projects

I'm with Andy here. Work and some personal medical issues have been keeping me away from the project. I hope to return soon to see what still needs doing.

No Worries. What little I've seen (feature outline) seems worthwhile,
and thought out. Just hard to figure where to start to contribute. Not
seeing any direction here (project plan, roadmap, component diagrams,
etc.).
Peter Bell and I came up with the "modularization" idea. Which, at the time, seemed like a good way to define sub-projects for team members to take a lead on. After struggling with UML diagrams (I'm a bit challenged in that dept, because I tend to draw them like an E/R diagrams, so my relationships are often backwards.), I realized that the modules are more or less "package" definitions and the dependencies between the packages are significant. So developing a module independently is not very realistic.
During December,I switched my focus to a personal project to exercise my design chops before subjecting the crew to disjointed diagrams. I am available most evenings to hash out ideas, so feel free to hit me up, if you want to kick start development.
I think this project just needs a little shove in the right direction. Inertia should take over after that, and then we'll start to see results.
Cheers,
Paul

Yeah, I'm doing some back and forth with Dan Vega on his Ext 2.0
custom tag libraries in the evenings, but I'll see if I can't hit you
up tonight or tomorrow to chat a little on next step stuff. I think
you can still get some mileage on the modularity without the
dependencies, so I'd be interested in hearing what you and Peter were
hammering out. Now, what's evening for you? I'm not usually logged in
after work until around 8pm CST?
Heh, evening often starts for me after the kids are in bed. That's approx. 9pm PST. At that hour only the indies are about...
If that's a show stopper, you might be able to catch me after your work, before I pack it in to head home.
Cheers,
Paul
