Recording of Casino Royale, anyone?
Ugh, I really hate it when they split films up on ITV and put the news in the middle. We were just watching Casino Royale which we taped on the PVR hard disc back on 19th September (yes, it's taken us a while to get round to it), only to discover that we actually only had half the bloody film. Has anybody kind soul got a video copy of the second half that we might... more »

Christmas with the Rat Pack - Sat 5 Dec 19:30
I have 2 tickets for 'Christmas with the Rat Pack' at Cambridge Corn Exchange on Saturday 5th December at 19:30 but now cannot make it. These are seats XG 11+12 in the middle of the tiered seating so very good seats. I believe that there are now only a few single seats left in the tiered seating for this performance i.e. no seats together.... more »

LHC up and running (again)
Since there's no cam.geeks... Looks like the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is cycling up to operation again. There's a great portal at [link] to access CERN's (near) real-time experimental results. Current status is cryo OK; energy at 208 GeV (around 450GeV by the weekend); beam dumps set (so no collisions quite yet -- boo! b-- won't... more »

"Durability" under sale of goods act
My microwave has just died. I still have the receipt, I bought it from Comet in January 2008. According to [link] "If a product that was faulty at the time of sale is returned to the retailer, the buyer is legally entitled to ... a reasonable amount of compensation (or "damages") for up to six years from the date of sale"... more »

Inhabited vehicles in residents' parking spaces
For the last 6 days there has been a somewhat run-down camper van parked in a reserved residents' parking space just round the corner from us. They have a permit (I think they are probably doing work on one of the many properties in the area that's being renovated, judging by the hard hats and toolboxes in the cab, so I assume that's where the permit's come from). The... more »

Marxist she-man cuntbag Harriet Harman bans Christmas
The Labour Government’s Equality Bill, announced yesterday in the Queen’s speech, will actively discriminate against all white people in business and put large companies under a legal obligation to employ Asians or blacks rather than whites. The Catholic Church has also warned that other clauses could lead to... more »

Community Bike Scheme
Talk of shaft drive bicycles has reminded me [1]: are there any initiatives under way to introduce a community bike scheme, as per any number of European cities? [1] shaft drive bikes are particularly suited in this application and some schemes do use them.
