Well, everyone who has anything these days says "I've had swine flu". I'm not quite sure why I've been offered a vaccination, but it seems a bit pointless seeing as I think I've had the disease already.

Everyone gets it free… atm it's health professionals, pregnant women and those with underlying health problems (CVD, breathing problems, impaired immunity etc.) who have priority (I think they started vaccinating these groups a week or two ago). Of course, as vaccine's supposed to act as a prophylactic, there's no point if you've already had swine flu.

Indeed, but if you've had a mild virus illnes how do you know whether or not it was swine flu? What costs the NHS more, testing you for it or just giving the vaccine regardless?

The former. They've already bought the doses.
Sounds to me as though Plum might actually have norovirus (Winter Vomiting Disease) rather than a flu, though. If you don't have a high temperature, at least for a while, it's most likely not flu.

Influenza test sequence...
Get someone to leave a 20 or 50 pound note easily visible outside in somewhere like the garden where the patient under test can see it.
If the patient has the energy to go outside and pick it up, he or she does NOT have influenza, probably they just have a cold.
If they CANNOT find the energy to go outside to get it, then they do have Influenza.

It's times like this when I don't miss the NHS one bit...
