Hi,
Apologies for any cross-posting, but Phil Bradley drew my attention to
your group (which I wasn't aware of and looks very useful). Earlier
today I sent this message, which may interest some of you, to the lis-
infoliteracy discussion list. Although I specify HE libraries, I would
actually be interested to hear from other library sectors too:
In the next issue of SCONUL Focus we'd like to run an article which
surveys
the current use of blogs by HE libraries in the UK and Ireland. Not
blogs
written for other members of the profession - there are plenty of
those -
but ones that are used as a means of communicating with library users.
How many are there out there? Are we all now using them as a matter
of
course - or are we still thinking through the issues?
Here are some examples of the sort of thing I mean:

http://ucdscience.blogspot.com
http://www.ucl.ac.uk/Library/blog/pub-pol/
http://www.ucl.ac.uk/Library/blog/slade/
If you're running a similar blog, I would be interested to hear from
you.
And if you're not doing a blog - any particular reason why not?
The issues we might explore include: who is the blog aimed at - all
library
users or a sub-group? What's the attitude of your library web team -
are
they happy for it to be hosted on the library web page, for example?
How do
you fit maintaining the blog into your workflow? And, importantly, do
you
have any evidence that your blog is being read?
I look forward to hearing from you.
Pete
