Subject: ISLINGTON - new contract, new hopes
School Meals Matters - Islington is a group that has been campaigning
over the past 15 months to improve school food in Islington. I have
been coordinating our efforts, which started with a simple petition,
and have just ended with a new contract going to a new caterer, Cater
link, of whom we have high hopes.

We were lucky that when we started our campaign the council was just
starting the process of deciding what they wanted to do about the
Islington school meals contract which ends with its current supplier,
Scholarest, this August. Much of our experience, after the inital
getting together and promoting the group in the local papers, has been
with the council officers as they went through the process of drafting
the contract and putting it out to tender. It was a steep learning
curve for us, but one we are willing to share with anyone else who
needs help.

We have a lot of experience of getting parents together, dealing with
the media, drafting letters, petitions etc, and also how the council
works, who people are and what their roles are, and how to work with
them.

We don't have a website, but I am happy for people to email me and ask
me any questions and I'll try and help. I have templates of letters I
can send if you want.

Zozi
