7. This week's top 50:
Notching up a 7th week at number one makes David Guetta's "Sexy
Bitch" the equal longest running chart-topping single of 2009,
sharing the honour with Flo Rida's "Right Round" and Black Eyed
Peas' "I Gotta Feeling".
The Black Eyed Peas are on the verge of three number ones in a row
as "Meet me Halfway" bullets from number 5 to 2. Irish rock group
The Script clock up a second top 10 hit in a row as "Before The
Worst" climbs from number 17 to 10, with sales aided by their
recent tour. Not much change elsewhere within the top 10, except
for Glee Cast slipping from number 8 to 11 after peaking at number
5 a couple of weeks ago.
Last week we welcomed 4 brand new hits into the top 50, but it's
all bad news for each of those this week. The highest of those,
Wale's collaboration with Lady GaGa on "Chillin", dives from its
number 29 debut to 38 this week. And the remaining 3 new hits
only survived one week as Glee Cast's "Take A Bow", Michael Buble's
"Haven't Met You Yet" and Mariah Carey's "I Want To Know What
Love Is" all drop right out of this week's top 50. Better news
for Mariah on the albums chart as her newly released "Memoirs Of
An Imperfect Angel", which features the recent top 20 single
"Obsessed", debuts at number 6.
Five new entries into this week's top 50, two of which come from
Australian artists. This provides a much needed boost to local
content after last week's poor showing where just 6 of the
nation's 50 biggest selling songs were local productions.
23. LITTLE LION MAN - Mumford & Sons
CD single: (not released yet)
Digital track: #22
Music video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLJf9qJHR3E

Mumford & Sons is a 4-piece folk band from London who formed
in 2007. Their debut album, "Sigh No More", was released
in the UK earlier this month and it debuted at number 11.
The album's first single, "Little Lion Man", has bulleted
to number 24 in the UK this week, however they do one better
in Australia at the moment, debuting at number 23.
37. WHEELS - Foo Fighters
CD single: (not released yet)
Digital track: #33
Music video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLdmTyE4_sA
Song lyrics: www.tinyurl.com/yknscaa
Artist website: www.foofighters.com
The Foo Fighters are an American rock band who have won Grammy
Awards for 3 of their 6 studio albums. In Australia, they
have enjoyed healthy album sales with their biggest to date
being 2005's "In Your Honour" which spent 5 weeks at the top of
the album's chart and eventually sold 3-times platinum. From
that album came the group's highest charting single, "Best
Of You" which peaked at number 5 but spent an incredibly
short 5 weeks in the top 50 for such a high flying single.
Shortly, the Foo Fighters will release a compilation album
of some of their past hits including two new songs, "Wheels"
and "Word Forward". The first of those, "Wheels", debuts at
number 37 this week.
44. STILL STANDING - Hilltop Hoods
CD single: #26
Digital track: (not in top 40)
Music video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJf4_hsVEXE
Song lyrics: www.tinyurl.com/yf55kyp
Artist website: www.hilltophoods.com
Hilltop Hoods are a 3-piece Adelaide hip hop group who are
enjoying great success with their "State Of The Art" album.
It went to number one and has sold platinum, giving them their
first ever top 10 hit single, "Chase The Feeling", which is
still charting after 22 weeks. The album's second single is
"Still Standing" which debuts at number 44 on the eve of their
national tour.
47. LIKE THE RIVER - MKF
CD single: #1
Digital track: (not in top 40)
Music video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVWIlPZn0U8
Song lyrics: www.tinyurl.com/yf5yyju
Artist website: www.mkfworld.com
Mahmood Khan was born in Pakistan and is an accomplished
singer, song-writer and producer. Now living in Sydney,
he has developed a new sound which fuses music of several
cultures into a pop recording style, known as Mahmood Khan
Funk, hence the recording name of MKF. His new Australian
based band has been performing at the Sydney Opera House and
a live album of those shows will be released shortly. From
that album comes the song "Like The River" which debuts at
number 47 this week.
50. 3 - Britney Spears
CD single: (not released yet)
Digital track: (not in top 40)
Song lyrics: www.tinyurl.com/ylj8nr5
Artist website: www.britneyspears.com
27 year-old American singer Britney Spears has enjoyed huge
musical success since her debut single in 1999 "Baby One
More Time". It is reported that Britney has sold over
85 million records worldwide. Her second greatest hits
compilation album will be released shortly which follows
on from her 2004 release "Greatest Hits: My Prerogative".
The new compilation is titled "The Singles Collection" and
is to be released in a variety of formats, all featuring
past hits plus one brand new recording, that being the song
"3". "3" debuts at number 50 this week and has just debuted
at number one on the US Billboard singles chart.
