Peter Gieler wrote recently in =93Felix Austria=94 that he is often asked
how to receive Austrian TV and radio programmes in the UK. He went on
to describe the possibilities for doing this via satellite
broadcasts.

It is worth knowing that Austrian TV and radio broadcasts are also
available via the internet. To watch the TV programmes you will need
a broadband connection to the net.

The TV output which is available consists of =93Zeit im Bild=94, =93Heute i=
n
=D6sterreich=94 and regional news broadcasts. These are provided =93on
demand=94 for a few days after the live transmission has gone out in
Austria. This is similar in nature to the service which the BBC
offers through its iPlayer.

Many Austrian radio stations can be heard =93live=94 on the internet.
This means that you are listening to their programmes at (almost) the
same time as they are being broadcast in Austria. The =D6RF stations
available include =D61, =D63, FM4 and all 9 regional services. There are
also a number of non-=D6RF stations.

To watch Austrian TV on the internet, visit the =D6RF web page at
http://ondemand.orf.at/. You can then start the programmes by
clicking on the links on the right-hand side of the page. The links
say things like =93Stream=94 or =93Wien heute=94.

To listen to Austrian radio on the internet, visit the =D6RF web page at
http://radio.orf.at/. You can then start the radio stations by
clicking on the links at the right-hand side of the page. The links
all say =93live=94.

Details of non-=D6RF TV and radio stations can be found at various
websites such as :
