Maybe I can encourage a little life in this forum by injecting a note
of controversy?

Does anyone know the current Austrian National Anthem?

I know few Austrians who do!

In UK many think it is The Blue Danube (or even God Help Us -
Eidelweiss!)

In this Haydn year is it not time to restore the old anthem?

As an Ango Austrian Society we should perhaps take note of just how
hard it is actually to travel between the UK and Austria. Outside
London, Austria becomes one of the remotest countries in Europe!

It is curious that Austria - UK routes are so poorly served,
especially from outside the London area. With the uncertainties over

 Hello all,

I'm also from the University of Nottingham and will soon be embarking
on the trip to Vienna led by Thomas Jochum!

I want to know a bit more about the history of Austrian literature and
I wonder if anyone can recommend any relevant museums to visit...In
fact, which are the most prolific Austrian writers? In the German

 Hello everybody,

I am new in the forum and would like to present myself: I am Thomas
Jochum and have been an Austrian lektor at the University of
Nottingham since September 2007. As a new project I am leading a
student trip to Vienna in March and I thought that a Heurigen should
be part of the trip. Has anybody suggestions where to go? Obviously we

Peter Gieler wrote recently in “Felix Austria” that he is often asked
how to receive Austrian TV and radio programmes in the UK. He went on
to describe the possibilities for doing this via satellite
broadcasts.

It is worth knowing that Austrian TV and radio broadcasts are also
available via the internet. To watch the TV programmes you will need

We should perhaps warn members and friends who do not know, that late
July and August are often major times for roadworks in Austria. This
year, Vienna is especially hard hit with synchronised road-works, over
the bridges. At certain times of the day expect it to take 1 - 2 hours
to drive from West to East! Coming from the airport for the West of
