No we don't but the broadcasters have abused the people's airwaves and
refuse to address this issue. If they had there would be no need for
regulation. In this case the government, which by the way is us,
does need to regulate it.

That sounds great! I still fear it may be too complicated for me, but
I'm willing to gather the info, study, and see if it might work for me,
after the holidays. It drives me crazy that all that hardware is

I don't see people shouting from the rooftops that they are "Mad as hell
and not going to take it anymore". What I do see is that for the most
part, it is an annoyance that can easily be worked around, that is all.

As stated in that FAQ, the differences between version 1.3a, 1.3b, and 1.3c
are testing and manufacturing issues.
To be safe, get a "Category 2" (High Speed) cable for 1080p, although a
Category 1 (ver 1.3) will probably work OK.

It is not something that that needs to be regulated through the
legislative branch of the government. The legislation creates a need for
measurement and enforcement, which costs tax dollars.
Next thing you know there will be all kinds of class action lawsuits on
the behalf of the poor souls that that are afflicted by this devilish

Despite the fact that any 12-year-old electronics whiz with a few
hundred bucks and access to a Radio Shack can probably build a receiver
that can intercept those transmissions? (And what's to stop someone
making and selling such receivers, for that matter? I guess you need a
pretty big dish to pick those particular signals up, though.)

It prohibits running an internet server (http, mail, news, etc) over your
internet connection. Don't worry about that, MythTV is not an internet
server, and doesn't even require a connection to the internet. It can
take advantage of an internet connection for paid 14 day guide data ($20
