Subject: Recommendations for setting up Karaoke on Win XP (EN) at home?
(after 12 hours, I don't see my post showing up so I'm re-posting -
[why does that happen?] - apologies if this ends up being posted
twice...)

I'd like to set up my wife's computer so she can sing (and possibly
record) karaoke. This is just for light use at home, so I haven't been
seriously considering buying one of these pre-packaged all-in-one
solutions.

I researched this a few weeks ago (on Google), but instead of
narrowing down to a list of a few applications, I just got more
confused. Results seemed to lead in all directions, and I got the
impression I was missing something.

I'm comfortable setting up the microphone and software, but I could
really use some recommendations on software to choose, popular content
formats, etc. Cheap is good. Free is really good (but not Warez, pls).

One other thing -

My wife is Chinese, but her Windows XP OS is US English. One of the
Karaoke applications I previously looked into supposedly ran only on a
Chinese language (CHT) version of Windows. Either that, or maybe the
entire UI was in Chinese Traditional - it was a while back, and I'm
not sure anymore.

Anyway, that's going to make things pretty tough for me when it comes
time to show her how to use the application. Chinese computer terms
aren't very meaningful to her, and I can't read any of it, so I end up
saying things like "OK, well, on this menu, isn't there *something*
that says 'go' or 'play' or anything like that? No? Are you sure?
Hmmm."

Aaargh..

Thanks in advance for any advice or recommendations.

Does she just want to sing Karaoke, or would she like to record as well...
