Subject: Looking for pedal advice
I've owned several pedals; from multi-effects to individual pedals and sold
them all out of disgust. Now I'm thinking of replacing (some of them) with
the best. This is what I'm thinking:

Dunlop Crybaby Classic ---> Keely Fuzz Head ----> Dunlop Uni-vibe.

I'm thinking about adding a compressor and maybe a flanger later :-)

Of course I can't go to the store and test them because they don't carry
them. I did check YouTube for examples and these are the ones I liked. I own
a variety of amps and guitars. I'm moderately experienced. Play classic
rock: Hendrix, Cream, Black Sabbath etc....  I've always loved the rotating
speaker sound and dreamed of owning a uni-vibe.
TIA

I've got several, original wah pedals from the 60-70s

Yuck....

Your amps are way cool. I use a .5watt bedroom amp most of the time. What do
you think about that RV-5 and the  Metal Muff?

Sensible looking setup.

On a couple of days I voted late and when I went to vote the next day it
wouldn't let me. It doesn't let me vote twice either.

I have a Keeley Fuzzhead, and it has been my favorite dirt pedal for
quite a while now.

I have a Fulltone Clyde wah, as I wanted true bypass after having too
many tone sucking wahs in the past.

For modulation effects, I scrapped all the pedals I had and bought an
Eventide Modfactor used on ebay.

It does it all, and very well.  The only complaint is it doesn't do
that lush chorus thing ala Boston.

Not a biggie for me as I am not a fan of that type of chorus.

Yeah....I saw one on eBay for $400. I just keep thinking of why I got rid of
all my old pedals. It'll be awhile. I figure the three pedals are going to
run over $500. That's going to have to keep me happy for awhile anyway.

I heard some examples on YouTube of the re-issue Uni-vibe, through what
looks like a Fender Hotrod Deluxe, that sound pretty impressive.

I don't care much about spell checking but, there sure seems to be a lot of
schoolmarms in Usenet land. They get their jollies picking out minuscule
details. For me, life is too short for that crap.

I think the Fuzz Head is a lock now. I've only heard good things about them
plus, there are some wicked examples on YouTube. Which do you use the most:
Silicone or Germanium?

The only chorus I've ever liked was a stereo chorus I had onboard in my old
2x10 Crate amp. Unfortunately, it was stolen and they don't sell that model
anymore. I had a Boss CE-5 <?>. Even in stereo it sounded flat.

I use it in germanium position only.  I love how I can roll off the
volume on my guitar slightly and it will clean up as I do.

I had a silicone based fuzz pedal on my board for a while that was
more aggressive, but it got bumped, and I kept the settings the same
on the FH.

You've got what you have chained the way I would do it.  Personally, I'm
not a fan of running a compressor in a live guitar rig - particularly if
you have a nice tube amp, but give it a go if you must.

Give the Fulltone Deja-Vibes a look - particularly the newer MDV-2 (I
own an original MDV) -

http://www.fulltone.com/mdv2.asp

In fact, give all of the Fulltone effects a look-over.  I own two OCDs (
I love 'em!), an MDV, and a TTE.  TTE...DROOOL!!!

I also own two Morley pedals - a wah/volume, and a
wah/volume/distortion.  If you like a wah with a longer throw, Morley IS
the one.  The wah sounds great for each, but I was very surprised by how
much I like the distortion in the second one.  VERY nice with my
Strat...and 3-4-1 in a single pedal gets you more room on your
pedalboard for other stuff.

I prefer to run a flanger, chorus, echo, or any other time based effect
in the effects loop through the back of the amp, or last in the chain
if I put one in the front of the amp.  I recently had this flanger
pointed out to me -

http://www.ibanez.com/Video/AF2

I WANT one!

<snip>

I have to agree on the Fulltone Clyde:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECkRQvuwHSA

Fulltone is quite a bit "fuller" than the Budda and the Dunlop. I think I'd
get used to the full sweep. After listening to that I can't figure out why
the guy would go back to the Crybaby.

Yeah, agreed.  I've got the Katana, also the Java treble booster.  Both
very nice pedals, and rugged as all getout.  I've never tried any of
their mods (but I'm tempted to).

For the fuzz, I was going to suggest the Bluebeard, which is distributed
by a used instrument store near me.  It's by far the best fuzz I've ever
played through (it's Ge-based).  However, it appears they're out of
business: the store doesn't have a link to it on their web site any
more, and I can't find it on the web.

I agree on the Fulltone. It's the best of what I demo'ed: Crybaby, Weeping
Demon, Budda. Although I did like the Weeping Demon, and for the price it's
a good buy.

I had to buy the Clyde Deluxe because GC didn't have a Standard.

The Fuzz Head I got home and it was defective. It was making a very annoying
popping sound. I took it back and got one of these:

It maybe just me, but the Fuzz Head was coming off more as a boost pedal
than a Fuzz.

I told the sales guy I wanted more of a Black Sabbath/Led Zeppelin sound and
the Tube Zone was much closer. Nice and creamy. Should go well with the
Clyde. I get to try them out now and wait for the wife to go ballistic.
